Metro UP Financial Asset & Literacy Foundation is a non-profit organization designed to help low-income individuals move forward in life. Their programs are designed to increase financial literacy & reduce poverty in Kelowna.
Metro UP offers two programs:
Next Session Beginning October 2013
The Matched Savings Program is a 12 month program designed to help participants learn how to effectively manage their personal finances, while providing the opportunity to save and purchase an asset. Educational topics include: budgeting, consumerism, banking, assets and debt management and repayment. Participants have the opportunity to save between $25-50 a month for twelve months. If they save the full $50 every month, they will have $600 in savings at the end of the program and $1,800 in matched savings from Metro UP contributed towards the approved asset. In total a participant could gain unto a total of $2400 towards the purchase of the approved asset. Participants will also gain a foundation of money management skills and best practices.

This condensed, 9-week program provides key financial literacy education in a small, casual environment focusing on topics such as budgeting, credit, spending, assets and debt management...and includes a free home-cooked meal!
Classes are held Mondays at Metro Central. There is no formal application process. Simply contact the Metro Community for more information.
